hey everyone,

so, today is august 26th. that would normally be pretty insignficant to me and everyone else, and usually it would mean it's another day closer to the end of summer and school is this much closer to starting. there's a lot more to it than that though, because today, our new album "we all need a reason to believe" is finally available in stores and online everywhere. ever since we recorded the album back in january and february, everything that's been going on with us has been leading up to today and we're so happy to share it with you guys because like we've said many times before, this album is as much for you as it is for us.

that being said, make sure you head to your local record store, or any of the websites at the end of this message, and pick up "we all need a reason to believe." let us know what you think, we hope that when you listen to the record, the songs become as important you as they are to us.

I just wanted to write in quickly and check in with everyone.  We hope you guys are having as great of a summer as we are.  We had an awesome time on the Warped Tour and with All Time Low, Hit the Lights, and There for Tomorrow these past couple of months, and now we’re at home getting ready for our upcoming headlining tour and the album’s release on August 26th.

We’re going to be doing a little contest on our website because we want to see what you guys can do to help let everyone know about our album’s release.  You guys can do whatever comes to mind for this, just submit proof of what you’re doing to our website by uploading pictures and videos so we can see.  Whoever does the most to help spread the word will get free tickets to their date on the “Reason to Believe Tour” and we’ll hook you up with a feature on the main page of our site.  You can do everything from make little flyers with the pre-order link on it, or just hit all your friends on your buddy list with it.  Be creative, let’s see what you guys got. Just remember to leave us a message HERE and join our mobile “mob” by calling (267)940-7915 and pressing 1 so we can contact you to let you know if you’ve won.

so everything is going according to schedule? i'm not sure if it is or not. it's going well though, that's for sure... i'm getting more and more excited as we go. i like the songs alot. we are recording demos righ tnow and they're coming out even better than i expected.

in our time off we've been also having some good fun. yesterday was the premier of cloverfield AND hannah montana's movie just a block away from us. it was pure insanity around here... so many people and even more crazies than normal. today we went to one of the thousands of delicious vegan resturaunts around here. it was delicious. then we went to an overpriced coffee shop, in hopes of seeing scarlett johansson (apparently she goes there a lot). it was good, but i got a cup smaller than my fist for three dollars and fifty cents. it was pretty ridiculous. then i went to an overpriced "thrift" store and haggled with the lady to get 25 dollar sunglasses for 20 dollars... which was even too much. they are sweet sunglasses though, i'll show you sometime. that all being said... LA is way too expensive. these guys said their sunglasses were 'cheap/average'. apparently LA average is like 40-100 dollars for sunglasses.

anyway... things are going well, just letting you know what's going on. i'm about to go out and just people watch, it'll be fun.

here's my top albums of 2007.. what are yours?

1. Radiohead – In Rainbows. What an amazing way to release an album. Every musician hates the waiting period for an album to be released and fear of the album being leaked. Radiohead just threw that old method out the window when they posed “New album is done… will be released in 10 days” on their website. This outrageous release may not revolutionize the music industry… but it’s pretty badass and it’s a great album.

2. Arcade Fire – Neon Bible. I was doubtful that they could follow up Funeral, because it was such an epic, well-written album. Arcade Fire went above and beyond the call of duty with this album, they couldn’t have done it better and what really me over the top was their live video playing “Neon Bible” in an elevator (genius!).

3. Feist – The Reminder. Everyone, by now, knows the song “1 2 3 4” from the ipod commercials, but this album goes way beyond that. This record is Leslie Feist’s best yet, perhaps even topping her days in Broken Social Scene. There are such a wide variety of genres on this record and it never gets boring, no matter how many times I listen to it.

4. Biffy CLyro – Puzzle. Biffy Clyro is a band that has been around for years and years and has just now caught my attention, by accident. We found out we were sharing the same Warped Tour dates with them and decided to share a bus with them. Little did I know that they are a rock ’n roll sensation in Europe, and would quickly become my favorite band on Warped Tour. Their well-produced, pristine album reminds me of the Foo Fighters, while their live show is raw and hard along the lines of At the Drive In. They have such an interesting dynamic as a band and this is by far their best album to date.

5. The Shins – Wincing The Night Away. It feels like so long ago that Chutes Too Narrow was released and I was driving to high school blasting it. I had almost dismissed the band, because of how long it had been… but from the second I heard “Phanton Limb” I was hooked on the new album. This hasn’t hit me as hard as Chutes, but definitely in the top 5 of the year.

6. Iron & Wine - The Shepherd's Dog – Iron & Wine used to be my favorite going to sleep music, but that has all changed. With the addition of a full band, the music is much more interesting and engaging. Boy With A Coin is probably my favorite off the record, but the whole thing is great.

7. Kanye West - Graduation – Kanye West has never let me down. Everything he’s done is fun and innovative and a little different than the other rappers out there. The collaborations on the record are not only unique, but serve a purpose to the songs that he’s doing, unlike many rap collaborations. Great songs throughout the whole record, I can listen to it front to back.

8. Jimmy Eat World – Chase This Light – This is exactly the record I wanted to hear from Jimmy Eat World. This record is a little different, including some dancy stuff and less slow jams than any other JEW record. I was stoked on the album from the second I heard Big Casino and the entire thing is Jim Atkins at his best.

9. Wilco – Sky Blue Sky – Wilco has put out some of my favorite records of all time. Summerteeth and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot will never get old to me. This new album included some new influences that we hadn’t heard from Jeff Tweedy recently. Some songs (like What Light) even have a Bob Dylan –esque sound to them. All in all, a great record.

10. Bright Eyes – Cassadaga – Another artist this year who puts out some of my favorite albums kept the streak going. Conor Oberst can do no wrong, even in his more mature and sober days of late he can still write some great songs. The single from this record is more country and adult than anything he’s done and still managed to grab me. Not all of the songs are incredible to me, but overall it’s a great album and definitely deserves the 10 spot on this year’s list.
