So, many of you know about our Say No To Neon tour. As it appeared before, we were only going to be touring the east coast and bottom half of the country. We told you we were going to be adding more dates, and indeed we are! After we get back from Australia, we will be landing in Los Angeles and headed back to our home area via the north and northwest of the country! We are going to be joined by 3 sweet bands - Fight Fair, Meese and You, Me and Everyone We Know. We are really excited for the rest of the tour and we hope to see you all at the dates!

Tonight is the season premier of Lost. I really didn’t like the end of last season, but I’m really excited to start up another season. I just hope they can redeem themselves. It definitely used to be the best show on television. I usually don’t get into television shows, but this one, grabbed me from the beginning. There’s more to it than just drama and/or science fiction. I would recommend the show to most anyone. Anyway, today we are going to get together and practice a bit more for our radio performance on friday that you should all listen to! We’re going to do a cover, a few songs from our album, possibly an interview and take some calls. I always like doing radio stuff. I love playing acoustic for some reason. Anyway, I’m excited, hopefully you will listen and enjoy!

In Philadelphia, we’ve had some issues with radio. Stations have been shut down, moved around and even changed their programming completely. Despite the downfall of many stations, there ARE a few stations left that are worth listening to. Radio 104.5 is one of those stations. They play a really great variety of music mostly from the 90’s and 2000’s. The best part of radio 104.5 is that they play VALENCIA.

Although they play us, we want them to play us more! We’re very narcissistic and we still haven’t heard ourselves on the radio. We only received text messages and phone calls and e-mails from people telling us about it. So if you can, help us out by listening to the station and also requesting us! If you head to http://www.radio1045.com/pages/requests.html you can e-mail to radio1045fm@gmail.com or a text to 91045 . The song that they have been playing is “Where Did You Go?” so make sure to request that song and tell them that you heard it and want to hear it again!

Thanks in advance for helping us out! We’re really excited to hear us played on there we hope you all can make it happen! Don’t stop with just one request… do it whenever you want to hear it and tell your friends to do the same! It’s any bands goal to have as many people as possible listen to their music because that’s why we write the songs we write. We want everyone to hear our message and listen to our art, and it’s up to you guys to make that happen. You can start by requesting us here and showing Philadelphia how important these songs are to all of us (that means you, too) and as time goes on, we’re going to keep spreading the message further and further. But it starts here with this small step, so please do everything you can to help spread the word and get “Where Did You Go?” more play in Philadelphia.

You guys are what makes our band what we are, and now that we’ve started to get a little bit of airplay on the new alternative station in our hometown, we need you guys to keep helping us.

For all of you Melbourne friends we have added a ’sidewave’. The day before the Melbourne Soundwave we’ll be playing at The Espy with Goldfinger and The Riverboat Gamblers. This should be an interesting show. It’s always funny playing with bands that I used to listen to when I was in elemtary school or high school. When i wasn’t listening to Saves The Day or NOFX or the other latest Fat Wreck or Vagrant band I was definitely listening to Goldfinger. I’m pretty sure I listened to “Hang-ups” for an entire summer straight while I was at the New Jersey shore trying to pick up girls on the boardwalk. They would say no because I had braces (or something) so I would go back and listen to “If Only”. Other summers I would listen to their self titled record or even went as far as “Stomping Ground”. I think I was over it after that and had moved on. In any case, I am pumped. Hopefully to hang out with the guys in the band that I listened to so much when I was a kid and also to hear them play some of the songs that I used to listen to so much back in the day.

Over at www.valenciamusic.net we are having a battle of epic proportions. No,  not a rap battle but a PUN CARTOON BATTLE. I know it sounds strange but youll get it once you get there. t feels like we never stop writing songs. Yesterday we had a good little songwriting session. We wrote a sweet song that sounds like The Hippos and a few others than sounds completely random. We figure that it’s pretty early in the writing process so we can write ridiculous songs that don’t have anything to do with anything. It’s a pretty good time to just write songs without a care. Don’t have much else to tell you except that I’m really excited about new songs. Also we’re working on the plan for 2009 and what tours we’re going to be doing and what new and exciting things we will be working on and releasing, it’s all very exciting. We’re pumped to get it all going.

i finally got a new camera after accidentally leaving my old one in a hotel room in dallas on our last tour.

anyway, today writing begins again after too long of a break. i've been really slacking and because of that all of my random ideas are just scattered in folders and written everywhere and are too difficult to find. hopefully i can organize them and make them useful one of these days.

anyway that's enough for today, time to do some things.

The other day we announced that we will be doing a tour entitled the “Say No To Neon Tour” with Houston Calls, Artist vs. Poet and The Summer Set. Since then there has been quite a backlash with everyone assuming that they know what we meant to say with this and what ‘neon’ is. Everyone seems to think that it is a style of music or some satirical criticism of ‘bands these days.’ Whatever that means. There are plenty of awesome bands these days and there are plenty of horrible bands, but that’s the way it’s always been. Nothing really has changed. What has changed is that there’s this sub-culture of people who care more about what the band is wearing and how cute the guys or girls in the band are, or how 80’s they can look. There’s certainly nothing wrong with bands going above and beyond the call of duty and enhancing the experience with a certain look or shtick. There is, however, something wrong with a band forgetting the call of duty, which is making original music, having something to say, doing their best to spread the word about what they love. It seems like it has become more about the icing on the cake not the cake. The cake has become auto-tuned, quantized, insincere and fake. We’re not naming names, just wanted to start people thinking about what is really going on and take a step back and think before they get into something, you’ll probably regret it later.

The neon we’re referring to goes beyond this though. For many years neon signs have pointed towards the scummiest things. Fast food, tanning salons, alcoholic paradises, hooters, strip clubs, adult “bookstore’s” and whatever other unhealthy activity that this world has to offer. Obviously this is a gross generalization and there are definitely places with neon signs that are not all bad, bands who wear neon shirts that aren’t all bad and even neon clothes that are tasteful and, again, not all bad.

To those who say ‘enough with the commentary on the scene’ I agree. Certainly, there are far more important causes to get behind, but this is something we feel is taking over the scene and other aspects of life and needs to be considered and changed. There IS something to be said for entertainment and just having fun, but that’s not what it’s ALL about. Get behind something, form an opinion, get involved. Don’t just latch on to the next thing that comes out just because everyone else is. The worst part is that it just seems like the easy way out, no thinking required, just gravitate towards the next brightly colored thing in front of you without thinking about what they’re really saying.

All we’re saying is: think about what you support, what you listen to, what you spend your money on, etc. Take your time and think about the things you spend your time on, life is short so spend your time on the things that count and what matters, not all the fluff and ‘neon’ that is out there. It’s a metaphor people, it’s a commentary, it’s whatever the hell you want it to be. Take it how you want, but it’s just meant to make you think.
